台風のため延期開催したウィンターオーナメントづくりのワークショップ、ルヴァンの庭で採った植物を中心にしてスワッグをつくりました。ちょっと早めのクリスマス気分につつまれました。
モミとヒバの枝を土台に、バラの実、ドライにした千日紅、ルリタマ草、アナベル、バラ、ピンクペッパー、まつぼっくり、トチの実、オレンジ、ヒメリンゴなどをあしらい、季節に合わせてクリスマスにはリボンを、お正月には水引を付けられるようにしました。
完成作品をルヴァンの庭で写真撮影してみると、どこにおいても素直になじみますね、材料の多くがこの庭からなので。
スワッグはヨーロッパでは魔除けの意味もあるそうです。寒い冬でも変わることなくEvergreen（常緑樹）である植物の力が守ってくれますね。
In the Winter Ornament Workshop, we made "swag" with branches and flowers from the museum garden. An early Yuletide atmosphere warmed the studio.
Branches of fir and hinoki were used as the base, and we decorated it with rose nutlets, thistle, amaranth, hydrangea, pinecones, horse chestnuts, pink-peppers, orange and apple. The top decoration can be changed according to the season; ribbons for Christmas, and red and white paper cords for the New Year.
When we did photo shoots in the museum garden, the swags seemed comfortable, natually, because most of the plants were taken from this garden.
In Europe, swags are used as talisman. The evergreen energy will keep us safe through the cold winter.
